Few Updates from the Mid-Season Captains Meeting
Thank you to all the captains that attended. We had 21 of the 23 captains there to vote on some important matters. The following are items from the meeting:
- Our financial status is right on target.
- Jeff is working on fixing the website (sarasotapoolleague.com)
- We voted to hold our Banquet on April 21st. We also voted on a location, but we need to speak to the location to confirm the date.
- On a side note, we challenged captains to each get at least $50 worth of donated prizes to give away at our banquet.
- We discussed the Sunshine State ACS 2018 Florida State Championships.
- Our officers/league are taking an active roll in this year’s tournament
- The attached flyer was distributed to captains
- We are asking for captains help getting sponsors
- We voted to continue sanctioning with AmericanCuesports (ACS)
2018 ACS Florida State Championships (Q&A)
Q – When and where are the 2018 ACS Florida State Championships?
A – The tournament will be held January 26-29, 2018 at the Ramada right here in Sarasota!
Q – Are our team entry fees paid for by our league?
A – YES. Monday Night ACS 8-Ball League is paying for 23 team entries into the team event at the 2018
ACS Florida State Championships. Players must be qualified and be from the Monday Night league.
Players are responsible for the $20 greens fee and any fees associated with any singles or scotch doubles
tournaments they compete in.
Q – Can we still use the team entry if we have a player from STNEL on our tournament roster?
A – NO. The team entry fee is specifically for teams with players who compete on Monday Night.
Q – I want to put my own tournament team together, will the league pay our team entry?
A – The captains of our 23 teams have first option on the entries. Meaning, there are no extra entries
paid by Monday Night League if all 23 of our teams compete in the state championships. We will offer
unused team fees to players who put a team together on a first come – first serve basis.
Q – What happens to the team entry fees if we don’t have 23 teams that compete in the state
championships?
A – Those fees will roll over into next season’s budget.
Q- How do I get more information about the 2018 ACS Florida State Championships?
A – Attached is an information flyer. You can also go to www.sunshinestateacs.com or find them on
facebook at facebook.com/sunshinestateacs
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Teams can no longer add players to their rosters!
Please note that you can no longer add players to your roster.
Floating Subs are available for Monday Night League!
We highly encourage captains to utilize our floating subs. Teams must pay their $10 match fee for the
night, but do not need to split their end of year team winnings with them. That is much better than
taking a player forfeit and possible losing valuable round points.
The floating subs are:
Margarita Makeeva – Starting handicap is an 8
Chris Slidell – Starting handicap is a 7
Mike Sambstrum – Starting handicap is a 7.5
Kelvin Yow – Starting handicap is 7.5
10-Ball Break and Run Progressive Pot – $2290 or $229 per legally pocketed ball
Week 19 Player – Paul Trill – Circle Something
Ralph Gibson – Who’s Next had a great break and pocketed the 1-Ball. He did get a look at a long corner
to corner shot on the 2-Ball. He made it and decided two balls were enough. He pocketed $502.
Congratulations to Ralph!!! The good news is the pot is still over $2K and is at $2290 or $229 per legally
pocketed ball. Captains: please promote the 10-Ball Break and Run progressive pot. Please note: All
attempts at the 10-Ball Break and run will be done on Monday Night league nights only. This includes
position rounds.
Please note: We are out of white tickets, but have left over yellow tickets. The captains approved the
league using these tickets. Therefore, tickets in the drawing may be white or yellow.
